It is so good that I couldn’t put it down. I love teacher/student romances if they are done right, and this one was done right. Maverick is there for her several times and it just strengths their connection.
She is brave and strong but something needs a little support. She is fighting her way back from her mistakes and is making a new start but the past continues to follow her. It’s not until Clover comes into his life the second time that he starts to open up.Ĭlover is fantastic. We get his pain, fear, guilt, and so much regret due to the past but he keeps it bottled up. This story brings us more of the emotion we got from Little Lies but from Maverick’s POV. There are other things in his life that weigh on him and he carries so much on his shoulders. He just has to keep his eyes on the prize and deal with the pressure that comes from on and off the ice. He is the son of hockey legend Alex Waters, and while he may not be as good as his father, it’s a given that he will be drafted into the NFL, too. I enjoyed his mom and dad in Pucked and I loved and devoured his sister’s story, Little Lies, so I am not surprised that I’d love his story. I was so excited when I heard that Maverick Waters was getting his book. Well, they do run into each other again, only Clover isn’t a student, she is a professor and she just so happens to be teaching one of Maverick’s English classes. They spend a steamy twelve hours together and part ways thinking they probably won’t see each other again unless they run into each other at school. Bitter Sweet Heart delivers a wonderfully crafted teacher/student, age-gap, forbidden love story that is swoony, emotional, clever, entertaining, and heartwarming.Īt the end of the summer before his senior year begins, Maverick meets Clover and they hit it off immediately. I knew his story would be unforgettable and he did not disappoint. Maverick is here and he is better than I could have imagined.
